The March 1970 KM reported on how well publishers were doing in dropping unproductive bible students so that others could "benefit" from receiving a Bible study in the short time remaining. The article "Become 'Intensely Occupied with the Word'" in the "Presenting the Good News" section said on page 4:
A little over a year ago we were introduced to the six-month home Bible-study program. We immediately grasped that this would be an additional effective method to help get the work done in the short time remaining.
Now reports from the field show that Bible studies are being discontinued as publishers realize that the student is not making progress. This is entirely proper. There is no reason to spend our time with those who obviously are not really interested in doing something about the truths they are learning. Some publishers still ask, "How can I know whether to discontinue the study when they appear to be interested and still are glad to have me come?" The answer is that we discontinue studies when it is apparent that there is not the appreciation for the truth that there should be. There might be interest in continuing to take in knowledge. But is there appreciation for the knowledge already taken in? Appreciation for Jehovah and the truth is demonstrated by deeds...
Apparently the matter is being taken seriously by the brothers, because circuit servant reports show that many publishers unhesitatingly discontinue studies when the time comes to do so.

Why Important: Many that we meet in the
ministry are polite. However, Jesus prophesied
that some people will hate us. (John 17:
14) Therefore, it should not surprise us if we
encounter an irate householder. When this
occurs, we want to respond in a way that
pleases the one whom we represent, Jehovah.
(Rom. 12:17-21; 1 Pet. 3:15) Doing so will
likely prevent the situation from escalating.
It will also give a witness to the householder
and any observers, making them more inclined
to listen the next time Jehovah’s Witnesses
visit.—2 Cor. 6:3.
Howto Do It:
˙ Maintain a calm and friendly demeanor.
This will help defuse the situation. Do not
take the householder’s reaction personally.
(Eccl. 7:9) He may be upset because of
personal problems or because you happened
to call at the wrong time. Even if he
is irritated by ourmessage, often this is because
he has been misled.—2 Cor. 4:4.
˙ Reply with mild and gracious words.
(Prov.15:1) Did you wake him up or interrupt
him? Although we do not apologize
for our work, you could humbly apologize
for calling at an inopportune time. Is he
angry because of an untrue rumor that
he has heard about us? If so, you might
say: “I can understand why thatwould upset
you. However, it seems that what you
have heard about us is not accurate. May I
explain?” Does he object to one of our beliefs,
perhaps regarding disfellowshipping
or blood? You could say: “I understand.
Others have expressed the same concerns.
May I show you from the Bible the basis
for that teaching?”
˙ If the person is highly agitated, it may be
best to take your leave without trying to
reply. If he asks that Jehovah’sWitnesses
not visit him again, you can assure him
that his wishes will be honored. -

This has been going on for years:
WT 8-15-75:
Christian women are admonished to have well-arranged dress, to adorn themselves with modesty. This principle, of course, also applies to men in the congregation. In determining whether to wear a particular style, we can ask if the clothing or grooming reflects modesty, or whether it is immodest and proves embarrassing to others. Tight trousers tend to be immodest for a man, just as short or revealing dresses can be immodest for a woman. When a sister bends over or tries to seat herself modestly on the platform, does she have difficulty because of her short dress? Do we possibly, by what we wear or by our grooming, mislead others into thinking that we have loose morals or have a proud, militant attitude?

About 1955. CO's worked it into their Saturday night talk. It was meant to be a sign of respect for one's elders. Also, prior to that, when kids called adults by their first name when meeting in the street, onlookers would be offended that kids should show such familiarity. This is the 50's remember! You couldn't really refer to them as Mr or Mrs either. Plus, if you addressed someone as Bro or Sister so-and-so in front of non-believers you'd get some very strange looks. So the Uncle and Auntie thing was reckoned to be a good compromise all round.

Didn't the WT announce some months ago that JW's may have to act against their instincts? I would have though that being told to sell your KH in order to send the money to the WT was pretty much against most folks instincts!

So did anyone ever find out who actually came up with the cash for Beth Sarim?
JW apologists argue that it belonged to Rutherford and that he gifted it to the WT society and to the "Ancient Princes"
But where did the purchase money come from originally?
